Is your air conditioning system ready for the long hot days of summer? Many of us don't need to use the air conditioner over winter so it sits dormant for at least 4 months. If you didn't carry out any maintenance at the end of last summer then now is the time. Get it done now so there are no surprises on the first steaming day of summer.
Please Note: Ensure your air conditioning unit is turned off at the switchboard before undertaking any air conditioner maintenance.
Some of this maintenance you can do yourself, other aspects are best carried out by a licensed air conditioner technician.

Clear away debris
Check the area around the external part of your air conditioning system, the compressor. Remove any built up leaves or dirt. Trim trees, bushes and grass from around the system which could restrict air flow making the air conditioner work harder and use more power.
Change the filter
All the dust and airborne particles become trapped in your air filter. By changing or cleaning your filter you are allowing the air conditioner to work freely and efficiently.
Clean the fan
Do this with a soft cloth or soft brush. Be careful not to bend the fins.
Clean the grill
Clean the grill on the indoor unit to remove dust and any mould build up. Most will just clip off for cleaning. The grill on the outdoor housing can get dust and dirt clogged as well, use a brush to remove.
